In Boise

Hello prayer team,

Praises:

Thank you for your prayers! This past week of travel has certainly been an intense one as I went from Huánuco to Lima and then to San Salvador, LA, Seattle, Renton, Port Orchard and Boise! It was challenging but I am so grateful for your prayers for traveling mercies, and for your prayers that I would be a man of mercy while I traveled. Two very tangible answers came in the form of free, unattended luggage carts that appeared at different points of the LA airport when I very much needed them. I was so ill it was difficult to even carry my personal item.

I am now fully recovered, praise God.

I continue to reflect on the fruits of my three weeks in Peru. God granted me the opportunity to participate in two literacy workshops and see the Panao Quechua people impacted by hearing the Scriptures in their heart language. I deepened my relationships with the translation team. Very significantly, a Quechua family made the big decision to “take me under their wing” and care for me. I will be living with them when I return. Praise be to God! And an added blessing: While I was away some friends back home became ministry partners! My Wycliffe monthly ministry budget is now 60% funded.

Prayer:

Tomorrow Sunday I will be sharing about Bible translation and my Wycliffe ministry at a church here in Boise. Please pray that God would guide my preparations and my words, so those who hear my presentation may see God’s heart for the Bibleless and be stirred to take part. Please also pray they would be ministered to as I share.

Two final prayer requests:

  • Please pray for me as I develop my planning skills. I’m finding that planning is a bigger part of my role than I had realized it would be. I desire to improve my effectiveness through honing this skill.
  • Please lift up my allergy situation to God. I recognize that allergies are very common for many of us North Americans. Yet in Peru and just recently in Boise I had allergic reactions so strong they were almost disabling. Fortunately, they are for the moment under control with medication. But if these medications become ineffective it could pose a real obstacle.

As always, please let me know how I can pray for you!

Thanks so much, and God bless,

Alex
